This Guideline has been formulated to assist eye bank procurement and retrieval staff in their routine donor screening for SARS-Cov-2 and we trust that the pocket chart format will be useful and practical.
Nevertheless, this document should be used in conjunction with local/regional/national exclusion and deferral criteria determined by competent health authorities, risk assessment instructions from the ECDC, and the selection/exclusion guidelines proposed by GAEBA.
In addition, the social anamnesis of each potential donor should be included into each individual risk assessment to determine donor eligibility (e.g. includes close contact to COVID-19 infected persons, vaccination for COVID-19).

Important announcement regarding the 2021 EEBA Annual Meeting
The European Eye Bank Association regretfully announces that the 2021 EEBA Annual Meeting has been cancelled.
In view of ongoing concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic, the local organising committee for EEBA 2021 felt that the momentous and unpredictable public health crisis didn’t proffer them with a realistic chance of organising a safe and successful meeting and as such they called for the event to be postponed until 2022. This unwelcome but understandable appeal was accepted by the EEBA Committee and as a result the European Eye Bank Association formally affirms that the XXXIII Annual Meeting, scheduled to take place in March 2021, will now take place in Liverpool in March 2022.
In consideration of the recent Coronavirus outbreak, members of the Global Alliance of Eye Bank Associations (GAEBA) have consolidated international responses in relation to ocular tissue donation so as to issue a global alert outlining those recommendations that apply to both active transmission zones and non-effected zones (https://www.gaeba.org/2020/alert-coronavirus-2019-ncov-and-ocular-tissue-donation/).
